Enjoy the early days – Newborn Photographer Sydney
I know what it is like. You have your precious newborn safe in your arms, a flood of worrying thoughts fly through your head faster than you can imagine, you can’t read your baby, you wish they could talk to you and tell you what they need… why they are crying, why they wont sleep when it is their bedtime, why they won’t eat, why they want to eat more than you thought they should… the list goes on and on. I’ve been there myself and I have seen it as a Newborn Photographer Sydney.
You find yourself wishing the time away. It will be so much easier when they sleep through they night, it will be so much easier when they are on solids, I can’t wait until he can sit up by himself, out himself to sleep, occupy himself just so I can get some washing done.
From one point to the next the thoughts can follow through… I can’t wait until she can walk faster, put herself to sleep, put her own seat belt on. It will be much easier when she is toilet trained, can dress herself, when all of her baby teeth are out.
Then there are the worries we get when something out of the usual happens. When they are sick, over tired, when they get an unusual rash or bite, when they go off their food or get bullied in the playground.
It is all so very scary!!! And with good reason too! This little bundle we worry about so much is so incredibly precious to us and we only want the very best for them. We can’t stand the thought of our babies being in pain or in need. As a Newborn Photographer Sydney, I can see how we all want to be the best parent we can possibly be and to have all of the answers needed. We’re only human after all and while we do our absolute best every step of the way to not only look after Bub but also ourselves and sometimes our other children too, some things are quite simply out of our control and when we step back and take a good look we can see with clarity that our little worries are just that.
It’s easy to get caught up, I have been there myself, it can feel like you are playing a constant guessing game, using the process of elimination to find the hidden answers…. not much fun at 3am when all you want to do is curl into a ball and sleep for the next 20 years!
Now my children are older I have access to an incredibly wonderful thing call hindsight.
Trust me, hindsight is absolutely AMAZING!!!! But a burden at the same time. We can only hope some one in the possession of hindsight will give us a heads up and some enlightenment so we don’t have to make the same mistakes.
I remember one day I was out with my youngest, he was around 3. A lovely, elderly gentleman came up to us and said hello. My son can be quite the chatterbox and would quite happily chew the ear off anyone willing to hang around long enough and listen to his sweet little voice. The elderly man said to me before he went along on his way… “Don’t worry about the little things right now, you will have enough worrying to do later on, believe me!” I answered with “oh really?”. He said “Yes! Absolutely! Right now your son spends all of his time with you, he is guided by you and you make most of the decisions for him. When he is older, 10, he will be influenced by his mates, he will be making his own decisions, he will be starting to go out into the world on his own. When he is 20, he will leave early in the morning with his mates, the car will be full of his friends and he will be a passenger, you will be up into the early hours of the morning again at 3am wondering where he is, if he is ok, if he needs you, when he will be coming home… You will have plenty of time to worry then as he won’t need you anymore.”
Oh my goodness!!! He is so right!! When you’re caught up in baby land it can be hard to see forward to next week, let alone to when our babies are young adults! My youngest is currently 9 years old and my eldest is 13. I am beginning to see what this man meant when he told me to enjoy the early days as I would have plenty of time to worry about my kids later… this is a whole new level of scary!!
My mission now is to enjoy every moment and instill strong values of self respect in my children so when faced with challenges they can make the right decision, as a Newborn Photographer Sydney I hope to pass this on to you all. I can see that small challenges whilst they are young really assist in creating strong, capable, grounded older children and young adults. I’m scared to let go, I don’t know how people do it, I guess I will cross that bridge when I come to it, but for now, while your babies are under your roof, in your full time care, please try to enjoy every moment. Soak up every inch and every second. Life moves at the speed of light it really does, ad it is really unfair. But we can’t control that either 🙂
